Last night was a little crazy. Instead of the regular hacker drink up we wound up a Zip Fusion, a karaoke place in West LA. It was like being in a kids room with a 21 inch TV and a widescreen for the playstation, except they both displayed B-Roll movies with karaoke lyrics. I went on a Brittney kick, she still doesn't return my calls. Then I remember singing Limp Biskit and Barbie Girl.
Today was a work day and I felt like wanting to not work. I did a bunch of silly things like workstation setup and software installs. Its a living.
Tonight, the Office was good. Ellie Kemper is going to be on the show longer. She doesn't return my calls either.
Tomorrow is Friday and its going to be an early one. I am going to the Magic Castle Swap Meet and maybe I will visit with Keith and Jenny. Saturday night is time for the Bar Show at Magicopolis in Santa Monica.
Ellie Kemper... track me down... we are both superstars... we need some paparazzi photos of our red haired mugs.
I saw a woman smile at me and I immediately looked for her ring
I am standing in the line at Subway. My mouth is watering for a Ham and Turkey sandwich. When I walked in this cute woman in a pin striped suit coat and skirt, looking very professional smiled at me in my sweatshirt and cargo pants combo. It could had been the Nuclear Red hair I am sporting or my slimming figure from eating Subway. It probably because I am delusional. Either way since we only had a glance and I am not sure of her intentions, I am passing on this opportunity, even though she sat alone.
Tonight is the Hacker Drink Up in Santa Monica. Tonight is also a new episode of LOST. Tomorrow I am excited for the new episode of The Office. I wonder if Ellie Kemper stays on. She doesn't return my calls anymore. Friday is going to be light because Saturday morning is the Magic Castle Swap Meet.
I also failed to mention that last week I bought tickets to Honolulu. I will get back to that later.
I know. It has been a week or so. This is how its gone.
Saturday:
I ended up at Magicopolis with Kenny, Tom, Jose, Eliot, Jenny, Keith and Scott. We saw Danny M perform. After we headed to Keith's house for lots of beer.
Sunday:
Helder Guemerez gave a lecture at the Magic Castle. It was amazing to watch him do his effects and the simple ways behind them. After the lecture I headed to Club kM and hung out with Jenny and Keith while Cassie had pictures taken of her on the roof. Later on Keith, Jenny, Cassie, Jose, Erik and I had dinner at the Magic Castle. We saw Jeff Hobson perform again and he was amazing again. During his act he came down to sit on my lap and ended stealing my watch. It was awesome.
Monday:
I headed out to Vegas Monday night after watching Chuck. I got into Vegas about 1:00 am and I was hoping to bump into AJ from Street of Cards. We just missed each other and I was too tired to have fun. I fell asleep quickly.
Tuesday:
I explored NAB. I also worked from Las Vegas. I had to stop and sit against a wall many times because I had to jump on my laptop with the EVDO to do some work. I did however get to meet with Kyte, Barix, Tektroniks and StreamtheWorld.
Wednesday:
The day was filled with a bunch of work. I had more work than NAB but it didn't screw up the convention. Later that night, I got to see AJ, Jeremy, and Grndl at Darwin's Magic Club. I got interviewed by Bonnie and some other cute dark haired girl. It was fun. Jeff McBride, Dan Sperry and Bizarro showed also.
Thursday:
I got home and didn't want to do much of anything. I did enjoy The Office. Nice to veg by the TV once in a while.
Friday:
I headed to Club kM for a hair dyeing event. Its fun drinking Pyramid while getting your hair done. Jenny is awesome. After hair Chris, Pinguino, Dave, Jenny, Keith, Jose, cstone, Tom and Barcode headed to the Magic Castle to see Erik perform. Erik and I did an effect together which was awesome. After the Castle we wound up at 25 Degrees. I spent the night at Keith's place.
Saturday:
This was a lazy day. Spent the whole day at Keith's house just talking and playing on laptops. Stayed home Saturday night.
I went to do my taxes... shhh.. I know, I forgot to make an extention and they are due so I am taking the easy way but I do have deductions. Anyway. TurboTax shows different prices in different browsers. Below is the cheap example in Chrome and the other in IE. $10 difference.
Last night was the first Strolling Magic Smackdown at The Magic Castle. There was about 20 - 25 magicians and about 14 tables. A lot of competition for a hour of strolling magic. Was it fun, hell yeah.
It started out with the registration process. There was the gaggle of magicians standing and hovering around the table waiting to sign in. I had friends near by but they were upstairs enjoying dinner. I signed in but I was worried about my friends not being able to vote for me because I didn't see them registering for judges. I hung out with Doug Slater and Erik Tait before we were release to the tables to do magic.
I saw my friends did register and they sat down at a table. The buzzer started us off and it was a race to the first tables. I would like to say I was perfect in my routines but I know I wasn't. The pressure was pretty high because you were competing right after other magicians. It was a very hectic event. I didn't get into my good sets until we were halfway through the event. Erik was right in his advice months ago to say that my character is a barfly. I had better sets when I walked up with my bar attitude and swagger.
When all was done, even with my several votes from my friends. The winner of the event and well deserved was Phil Van Tee. Coming in second, by one vote was Erik Tait. I feel ok because both are my friends. It would have been cool if I was third but I am happy I got to compete anyway. It also helped me build my set a little better for this type of event. Next year it will be in the bag.
After the Smackdown, we went to see Jeff Hobson and Dimare in the Palace. It was nice because it wasn't crowded and we got to sit in the front row. Jeff Hobson was the best. He had us rolling the whole time. He sat on Dave's lap many times making sexual comments and his Egg Bag even surprised a magician who was dragged up on stage.
After the Palace show, we saw Jamy Ian Swiss
We parted ways, I stuck around just for a little while longer because I didn't want to drive right away. I could have gotten a ride from Scott but I didn't want to leave my car in Hollywood. All in all it was an awesome night and I have to thank all of my friends that came.
Tonight, it is all about me. I am going to relax, relax and relax. I will pick up the magic and drinking tomorrow.
This weekend, I might hit up the Castle. Saturday it's time for the Bar Show and everyone should come down to see the second place winner of the Strolling Magic Smackdown. After that, we might have a dyeing party at Club kM.
Tonight there is a battle between magicians for Strolling Magic Smackdown at the Magic Castle. I will be there. Am I a little worried? Sure. There are other magicians out there that are better than Erik and I but I do have some very good stuff. I would like it if I did place in the top three.
The weekend was pretty good. Friday I went to Copa D'Oro and had a drink. Eliot was there but he was way ahead of me. I hung out with Erik at Magicopolis after. It was good catching up and talking about magic. I went to King's Head after and that didn't need to happen.
Saturday I went to the Bar Show at Magicopolis and Scott met up with me. Unfortunately, we were the only ones there. The show was canceled. We jammed a bit but that was about it. We ended up hunting down Eliot and we went to Swingers. I was tired after that, so I went home.
Sunday afternoon I met up with Chris at King's Head and we drank beers and talked. An idea of attending bartending classes entered into our thinking. I don't know if we will follow through. I went home and napped.
I went to the Magic Castle when I awoke. I hung out with Erik a bunch and when he left Joe Skilton and I hung out. Joe gave me some good ideas on some of my tricks and I offered some back.
I am going to get dressed and ready to battle in a second. I have no idea what my closer is but we shall see.
I am up with the rooster this morning, like most Fridays. It's because of New York meetings and such. I am only cranky because I went out last night. Pinguino had an Easter egg decorating party last night and what goes with egg decorating better than booze. Pinguino, Dave and Tacitus helped me with some headshots.
After the eggs and photos, we headed to the Blue Moon Nights for a PornStar TweetUp. I didn't recognize any of the names or faces inside but the majority definitely was pornographers.
I didn't want to stay because I knew I would be up in this situation at 7am, so I decided to drive home.
When I got home, I saw the Tivo recorded two episodes of the Office. The first episode was funny and moved along. When I got to the second episode, my jaw dropped open when I saw Ellie Kemper. She was in the role of the new receptionist and was amazing. I don't know if she is still in LA but I will try calling her today.
The episode ended with Michael Scott and Pam making their first sale for the Michael Scott Paper Company.
Tonight, I plan on hitting Happy Hour at the Copa D' Oro and possibly seeing Erik or Steve at Magicopolis.
My ovaries have been hurting lately. For some reason I got caught up into watching Baby Mama and then to top it off, I watched Made of Honor. Thank God the only neighbors that can see into my apartment are hotel tenants so I don't think my reputation as a woman will be traveling around the southern California coast.
Sunday morning I got some gmail chat messages from my ex-girlfriend Liz. This wouldn't be an issue but it was 8 o'clock in the morning and my Google phone was getting the chat messages. It woke me up. Not a huge issue but I called her and it turned out she was having a computer virus problem. I helped her through it and then she put her boyfriend on the phone to continue the support. That stung a little. I still hold Liz close to my heart. Either way, I got her through her issue and she was appreciative.
Last night was the Santa Monica Hacker Drink Up. We played with an Atari Flashback which you can see some images here and here. After that we played Tower Toppler (http://toppler.sourceforge.net/) which was annoyingly difficult. When we were inside at a table I did some magic for several people. I wanted to shoot some video but it didn't happen.
Tonight there are two new Office episode but I am also heading to Pinguino's for an Easter Egg decorating party. There is a porn twitter party across the street too.
I was watching an old issue of Reel Magic (which is awesome, you should subscribe) and I saw an advertisement for Street Magic Magazine. I have never been a fan of the Magazine because it was light on content and pretty much served only to be a catalog for Black's Magic, even though some of the items never were produce like the Hoodie. The magazine hasn't been published in a long time but I felt this commercial had a cocky message.

Playing with a new effect
I just learned over the weekend a new effect and I am enjoying showing it off. It's pretty to watch.
VegasDeluxe confirms our previous rumor thatDavid Copperfieldwill be on stage at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards this evening:
I can confirm now that illusionist and MGM headliner David Copperfield will make his first appearance on the show in a magic sequence with Taylor Swift. The noon rehearsals today are cloaked in secrecy, and only top-line producers, Taylor, her band and the camera crew will be allowed. It’s closed and off limits to all else!
Copperfield had his top secret rehearsals yesterday and, apparently Taylor will take part in a magic segment with David before she sings “You’re Not Sorry.”
The awards will broadcast LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 8:00 PM live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network
It started yesterday with happy hour at Copa D' Oro in Santa Monica. They make some real fruity drinks that taste very fresh and they are only $5 from 5pm - 8pm. It's become my favorite dark place to read or gather with friends. From there I went home and took a nap.
When I got up, I got dressed in my evening-wear and headed to the Magic Castle. There I ran into Phil Van Tee and talked about some of my new effects. I didn't have a chance to show them to him since the place was so crowded. I went looking for Erik Tait but got pulled into the Parlour show and saw Brandon Scott. It was annoying because the drunks were out early and they had some loudmouth soup.
I them went to see Chris Randall in the close up room and I enjoyed his Mc Donald Aces. He had a good three fly routine with poker chips as well. After his show I ended up talking with him a bunch. I also finally caught up with Erik and he could only mention how he thinks he is going to kick my ass at the strolling magic smackdown a week from Monday. Any Magic Castle magicians or associates are totally invited to vote for me, just so you know.
Today I woke up in the morning and walked down the beach near Casa Del Mar to watch G4's pseudo Ninja Warrior. It got lame quick and one of the only entertaining parts was one of the hosts of Attack of the Show or something, blurted out "What the F**k are your guys problem, make some noise". It pretty much stopped the excitement since this was noon at the beach near a kiddie park. Shame on a pseudo TV host for not knowingdecorum .
The rest of the gang headed downtown to a pillow fight. I opted not to go because I don't want to hurt my hands or wrist and I should be practicing anyway.
Tonight I am going to head to Magicopolis for the Bar Show. Tonight's bar magician is the 2006 Close Magician of the Year at the Magic Castle, Jon Armstrong.
The biggest pranks were happening when we got together at ther bar but everyone either thought I was in Disneyland or that TJ and Scott got us kicked out of Rick's Tavern. I changed http://tommee.net to look like it was hacked and we just drank at the bar. Crystal is in town from Seattle and that is good stuff.
There is no Office tonight but heck, they need to prep the role for Ellie Kemper. Tomorrow starts the weekend and I must make the Castle sometime this weekend. I am looking forward to me time and no Power Hour.
Tonight Free Radio is back for a second season on VH1!
