I got to see my pal Jawnee today. He was on the show Fat Guy Stuck In Internet. He played a Rasta Zombie and it was great. The show was better than last week. It made me miss New York and the fun I might be missing.
Last night was great. I got to see my friend Jimmy and his girlfriend Kristy. We met at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater to see the Final Match Game. The line was huge and it looked like it was going to be a hell of a show. We got our usual front row seats and I told Jimmy when Jimmy Pardo was announced, we should give him a standing ovation. Jimmy was concerned that we would be the only ones standing. I told him, everyone would follow and if they didn't, it would be great to show support.
Jimmy Pardo came out and the whole crowd rushed to their feet and applauded Jimmy. He looked very touched. He turned to Chris Hardwick, as Chris was trying to get a picture on his iPhone, and said "Did you plan this?" We all sat down and Chris said he didn't get the picture and asked for us to do it again. The show was awesome and Jimmy looked a little emotional at the end but it was a perfect show to end on.
Today was for slacking and watching the TV. I played Rock Band a bunch, working on the lead singer part. It was kind of horrific and I know why I need booze to Karaoke. It was a little awkward hearing my voice echo throughout the apartment. I wondered if the neighbors heard me.
I saw a couple things that caught my attention, something good and something questionable. I saw there is a new Xfiles movie, kick ass. The movie is called X-Files I Want To Believe and there is a trailer at http://xfiles.com/. The other thing I saw is that Guitar Hero came out with a new addition with Guitar Hero Aerosmith. I don't know what they are thinking. I like a bunch of Aerosmithsomgs but I would expect them in a release of the game, not an addon CD. How many Aerosmith fans do they think are still playing Guitar Hero. I would see it as a download but not a brick and mortar purchase.
I wish I had time but I ran into this info
Joanna Angel needs extras June 30th!
So you've always wanted to be in a porno? Well, now's your chance, sorta....So I am shooting a scene this Monday- June 30th at Beauty Bar in Hollywood (Los Angeles).
I need extras from about 1pm till 6pm.I would love for every girl and member of BA who lives anywhere near Hollywood to be there! The payment will be be that you get to watch her suck five different penises... Isn't that EXCITING!
See you tomorrow! xoxo Joanna Angel
Lastly, I am performing tonight at the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles. The show is The Ninja and it is bound to be as fun as a barrel of Ninja.
This is the first time the Ninja Harold has been performed in Los Angeles. The show is set for 7pm and it costs only $5.
I am standing out side the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater waiting in line for the Final Match Game. Most likely will be a good night but a bad future.
Speaking of bad future, I got a letter from my insurance company. If you remember, a week ago I got into an accident. I hit a pedestrian crossing the street. She really ended up running into be but none-the-less, she was ok. Just bruised and scratched from her falling after my mirror grazed her. The letter said that I was 100% responsible and the was 0%. I called and left a message for my agent and I hope to contest the 100% blame. I think it should be no fault but we shall see. I am thinking when I move to New York in the future, I will have to keep my car parked in New Jersey again.
I am a little unhappy and I need some good comedy. I was at imrpov practice earlier and I was in a pretty good mood. The practice went well and we definitely got the form down perfectly. I bought some black bandanas for folks in the group from an Army Navy surplus store. I called ahead and they counted out 14 black bandanas and they set them aside for me. Marty got some paisley bandanas and I felt bad that he went out of his way to get them. I know I can afford the loss, I don't know if he can.
My group is to perform Monday at 7pm and I think we will have a good crowd. We have a really good rythem going too. I am pretty excited to go to Vegas this upcoming weekend. Friday should be a holiday and Phillip should be joining me. I will get to see Bink and Jamiegrrrl too. Should be fun.
I must be living under a rock. Better than in front of iO.
Its good that no one was hurt but a shame that this has happened. Just like the IHOP on Wilshire accident six or seven months ago, another out of control vehicle.
At approximately 4pm yesterday, an out of control SUV traveling eastbound on Hollywood Blvd. crashed through the front of the building, coming to a stop in the iO West bar.
Nobody was injured.
Damage to the exterior and interior of the building is extensive and means that the Mainstage and Bar are CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
WEEKEND CLASSES WILL CONTINUE AS SCHEDULED.
Phone service at the theatre and office has been interrupted, so no calls can get through.
Updates will be posted as soon as they are available
I sat down to watch two of the three TV shows that I missed yesterday. First I caught Americas Got Talent because it is almost 'throw away' TV. It was ok, but the thing that amazed me was Jonathan Pendragon. I remember Jonathan Pendragon from the old school magic days. The Pendragons were one of the headlining acts back then. What I found to be super amazing was that Jonathan Pendragon was in a near fatal accident when an arrow pierced his heart. I was unaware of that. They did their famous transposition and it got them a trip to Vegas in the next round. Do I think they are the ones who will win? No, its hard for magic to top the music acts, its just not as versatile.
The excitement didn't stop there. Hell's Kitchen was great. I am falling in love with Christina. Today I got to meet her parents on my Tivo. She did well with winning the challenge and running the pass. The surprise was that she had two votes to be eliminated and Corey went home. Fox knows I love Christina and they want me to continue watching the show.
Last Comic Standing was ok, no is was less than ok. Bill Belamy isn't funny. God's Poetry was funny. Some of the acts that should advanced, didn't, like Dan Naterman or Winston Spear.
I saw my coach Billy Merrit on the TV also. He was in a Carl's Jr. Advertisement. The premise is that they are serving Carl's Jr. Burgers instead of restaurant burgers. The burger, a $6 Prime Rib Burger, it looks good, I might try one tomorrow.
In other TV chatter, since I am going to UCB on Saturday to see the last Match Game, I saw the word on the internet about the revival of TV's Match Game. What I didn't know is that Adam Sandler is behind the show. I am not sure how I feel about that. It is also going to be on TBS, that might be painful too. Its good that Andy Daly is the host but I guess Sandler never saw the UCB show. Jimmy Pardo would definitely be a better host.
I see Friday at 5:30 PST there is a show on the Bloomberg network called Muse that will be covering the Upright Citizens Brigade improv. Sadly I do not get that network. I will have to check if it streams at work.
I don't see any more interesting TV on my Tivo until Sunday. Before then, I have comedy to see so I will be ok. Sit Ubu, sit.
Nerd Up, Everybody Say, When You Get A Call I will blog it today.
I have been pretty nerdy the last couple of weeks. One idea we were setting into motion is a prison blogging system. Its not the most attractive idea but a little practical.
I looked into the Netflix box yesterday by examining the network traffic. In the past, I have noticed the IP it was grabbing on the network. I tried doing a man-in-the-middle on the IP, I got nothing.
Last night, before I went out I decided to leave my laptop at home and man-in-the-middle the whole network and log all packets. I noticed something imaginative. The Roku box makes connections on a different IP. It makes connections to three different IPs during the movie playing. One of them is moviecontrol.netflix.com through 443. I didn't have the https dissector on so I didn't see the auth packets. I will have more on this since this is just the beginning of looking into the box.
We ended up at The Britannia last night and it was ok. There were more Cougars there then anything. We just geeked out and drank. It seems out Santa Monica Hacker Meetup is getting larger and larger. I appreciate the liquor too.
Tonight I must catch up on shows. There is a new Real World I missed, the is a Hells Kitchen I missed and there is Americas Got Talent that I only saw parts of. This weekend and stay in. Don't waste money on that Wanted picture, its a rip off of Chuck. Remember I perform Monday, spend your money on that.
Last night I watched 'Who Killed The Electric Car' and I think all the combustable engine vehicles are after me. You know last week I hit a pedestrian on friday afternoon. Well today a rental Mustang rearended me while I was stopped at a light on La Cienega. I already had the insurance guy coming to visit me to take pictures of my car for the first incident.
Last night I ended up missing Americas Got Talent because I went to The Sierra Stage. I went to catch some improv. It was a hectic day and I needed to unwind with a beer or two and some funny improvisational comedic performances.
I ended up meeting a cute asian girl outside the theater. We ended up chatting while smoking and then she sat next to me in the theater. I hope we bump into each other but I neglected to mention the Ninja that I am in. I didn't feel it appropriate.
Going back to the subject of cars, I did enjoy the movie. It really surprised me with all the guilty parties for killing the electric car. I started looking all over the net to find an electric car to buy and any convenient one is over $100,000. I then decided to see if I could join a van pool. I have been hearing them advertised on the radio. I went to the page but I am not qualified to participate. You have to travel more that 30 miles a day. I am only 20 miles round trip. My only option without spending over $40,000 is to buy an electric scooter. I am trying to do my part.
Tonight I plan on going to a Santa Monica Hacker Meetup and then watch Hells Kitchen. Its going to be down to two.
In one week, the teachings from the East meet the West
I am all excited about jumping on stage again at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. On June 30th, me and my friends will be performing a original form of improv taught to us by Billy Merritt. It is the Ninja Harold and it will kick your ass. Come see it at the UCB for only $5 next Monday at 7pm.
Tonight there is not too much going on. I am playing a little online poker and then I am going to watch Weeds. Curse you Deanna for making me want to watch it. It seems like the only thing on TV but I could be wrong. I did see Fat Guy Stuck In Internet this morning before I went to work. It was ok, I think I enjoy the Channel 102 stuff better, that they did previous.
One of my pals Jack is in the process of looking for people for a short for ucbcomedy.com. He is going to let me know what time the shoot is and I will see if I can do it.
Tomorrow is Lucha VaVoom but I planned on going to TNT tomorrow first. Aaron's improv team is performing so it should be fun. I always bump into people I know there too. Wednesday night I am thinking about hitting Cagematch at UCB. It's been a while since I have been there for a Cage Match. Friday, it's a toss up. Phil Shane is performing at La Cave and there is Soundtrack at the UCB. It all depends on Jimmy and Aron I think. Saturday I have improv but at night is the Final Show of Match Game. I don't know why it is the final show but it should be a great time. I bought 3tickets and if Jimmy and his girlfriend don't get a hold of me I will ask Chris and Barkode.
Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs, dirty words and the demise of humanity, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday. He was 71.
Carlin, who had a history of heart and drug-dependency problems, died at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT (9 p.m. EDT/0100 GMT) after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters. http://www.reuters.com/article/wtMostRead/idUSN2341233220080623
my name joe i am from canada i only have one thing to ask you i need you to hack or spam for me bank login .user id and password i will be ready to pay you any amounts$$$$$ just if you can do it
I know I am a gifted computer hacker but it doesn't mean that I am stupid. First off I will tell you that Joe emailed me from a yahoo.ca account. These people have to remember that accounts like that are monitored for suspicious activity. Not only that, why would someone answer some request like this? It could be some fed looking for an easy collar. None the less, how would you trust someone to give you funds that you are getting for them? It's just a weird request.
I didn't do anything Saturday night after improv. I was a little sleepy but I didn't do anything because of indecision. There was a party at Johnny's house tonight in Corona but I was dreading the ride home. I also knew that there was the Dirtiest Sketch Contest at the UCB but I didn't want to go alone. I called Jimmy because I haven't seen him in a month. It was surprising that I didn't hear back from him so I just went home to play some Rock Band and then I fell asleep about 9.
I failed to mention to mention that I talked to my mother yesterday. I was worried about her since she has not worked in a while. I told her that I was looking forward to moving back to New York one of these days but I was enjoying the weather. She went on how California was insane especially about Gay Marriage. She went off about God and then about man marrying another man. I told her I was going to marry an animal. She didn't appreciate that. I find it funny that I fell off far from her tree if I am party of that tree at all.
Now that I got Rock Band out of my system for a while, I think I will get my online poker fix. Man, I am like close to worshiping the devil with all my evils huh? I hope Mom isn't judging me tonight.
Granted it was after I had my McDonalds breakfast this morning but I fell asleep watching Spider Man 3. It was on real loud too. It just didn't keep my attention. The Sandman villain was boring and didn't keep the movie going fast enough. Topher looked weird with that hair too.
I headed up to Fry's yesterday. I saw a couple of items I wanted. One of the things I was looking for I didn't find but I did get some fun stuff. I got a USB 4 port hub for $5, I needed it because I have so many USB items hooked to my bedroom computer. I saw that Rock Band for the Playstation 2 was on sale for $99. A great deal since it comes with the same controllers as for the Playstation 3. I also decided to by a new webcam since I had the chance to Skype with Deanna two days ago. I found the Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000 for $22. Great deal since it has the microphone built in and it works with most everything.
I got home and the first thing I opened up was the Rock Band and I played that a lot last night. I watched Best Week Ever and then I felt tired. I tried calling Deanna to tell her about my ordeal yesterday but in the middle of our conversation, either her phone battery died or she lost the connection. I went to bed after that.
I woke up this morning early about 5:30 am because I was asleep so early last night. I didn't have dinner so I decided to take the car out and head to McDonalds for breakfast. I enjoyed the drive since it was so early on the weekend day that there was no one around. Santa Monica looked so pretty and quiet. I for once enjoyed the beach and surrounding parts.
Right now, it's the afternoon and the weather is 77.5 °F and it's beautiful because other places like Burbank are at 99°F. So everyone and their mother come down to this beach because it's one of the closest public beaches that doesn't stink like poo. When I leave in 30 minutes the traffic will suck and it will take me forever to get out of this area to get to my improv workshop.
Improv should be fun. We are doing crazy eights in Japanese and I finally know how to count in the language. After class I might head home because I thought of going to the dirtiest sketch contest at The Upright Citizens Brigade. There is also a Party at Johnny's in Corona. It's far but I think I will give in to peer pressure and do whatever everyone else is doing.
My heart is still pounding. I hit my first pedestrian. I was heading to lunch and I made a right turn at a red light. Then a sound from my passenger side door. I hit a female jogger or rather she hit me. A couple a bruises, some swelling and some scrapes. The damage came from her falling down I am sure. The was witnesses and the ambulance was called. The cops didn't show for about an hour to an hour and half. I gave my report, the witnesses reported what they saw. I didn't get ticketed. Not it's up to insurance. At least I didn't have to scrape hair and bloog off of my windshield wipers. It was her fault and I think she was trying to make me kill her says the devil on my sholder.
Ug, it's getting late and I don't know if I want to do a Fry's trip. I want some beer and playu some poker but Fry's is fun on a Friday. I texted Chris and he didn't get back to me, *shrug*, what's the deal. If I go to Fry's I just need a USB hub, maybe Rock Band and some PC knick knacks.
Last night wasn't as exciting as today. I played some Guitar Hero and played Lou the devil at the end. It was interesting but a lot of heavy metal toward the end. Playing Tenacious D was weird too. Well, if I want Fry's, I have to go now.
I went out last night but I think I got my hangover done when I awoke at 5am on my couch. I went into my bedroom in pain after that but when I awoke at 8:30am I was feeling fine, just a little tired.
I did miss Real World last night but I did end up meeting some friends at Chez Jay in Santa Monica. Chez Jay is a nice locals place on Ocean Ave and I was glad to walk to a bar instead of driving. I invited my friend Mark L. since he is a local too. We all met about 8 o'clock and it ended up being Marc, Elliot, Jeff, Chris and myself. There might have been others, I heard some people talking about computer security stuff next to me but they never introduced themselves. I got me a steak, I was excited, a nice think prime rib. We then talked about a bevy of items and ended the evening about 10:30pm.
One thing that came up was how the netflix player might be working. I tried looking at it this morning with a man in the middle attack but the amount of data I was capturing crashed the sniffer on Windows. I will have to go back this evening with the linux laptop and check it out.
I canceled my reservation at the Riviera for Defcon. It cost me $15 to do so but I had to. I am not going to be there. I am however going to Las Vegas for the 4th of July. I got reservations at a good hotel for $59 because of comps. Nice to play on a holiday weekend.
I got a text from Jamiegrrrl asking me when I would be coming in to town. I didn't get the message until I awoke in the morning but it made me check her myspace out. I saw she dropped me another spot in her top friends. I feel like a Christine Aguilera album. I saw that Jamiegrrrl has set her eyes on a new apartment and I have a feeling she will be happy to have the kids staying with her more. I told her when I would be in and I hope we get to catch up.
Tonight I will probably catch up on the TV stuff. I see that there is a repeat of The Office and a new episode of Last Comic Standing. I don't know why I am still watching it. Probably because TV is pretty slow. I have a couple documentaries to catch up with too, so that is a possibility.
I have to say TV sucked me in last night. I could have gone out but that TV had a grip on me. If you missed here is what happened. Deal Or No Deal is doing another twist on the show with a random pick of a ball out of many to determine how many million dollar cases will be available. How much do you want to bet that there are a bunch of million dollar winners and they don't show them. This guy didn't come close even with 3 million dollar cases.
After the Deal Or No Deal I flipped between NBC and FOX. On NBC Americas Got Talent came back to air. It was such a warm and fuzzy show. There was this 4 year old named Kaitlyn Maher that brought the house down with how adorable she is. She will no doubt get some commercials with her unbelievable cuteness and personality.
There was also some other great acts like the twins from Romania which were hot but sounded like a lounge act in some dark foreign bar. Another act worth commenting was the last act where Neil E. Boyd, the insurance salesman, sang opera and really rocked the crowd into an emotional standing ovation. It was something else.
On the fox channel I was mesmerized by Hell's Kitchen. Final four up to see who gets in the top three. First competition my girl I am crushing on, Christina, won by only two votes. Dinner service was a little rough but Petroza was given good compliments and then the group had to come up with two people to be put up for elimination. The group decided to have a silent vote which proved the girl Jen to be labeled the lier and she is. She was definitely going home but they tried throwing in some drama but it was to late, we all knew Jen would go home.
Fox also had Moment of Truth on which I feel dirty when I am watching it. The woman was another whore and liar. Thats what gets ratings.
Tonight I am heading to Chez Jay to hang with some hacker friends and hope to get a steak or something.
Jesus, I do know how to be lazy. I was so lazy the past couple of days I couldn't get the energy to blog.
First I would like to say congratulations to C. Thomas Howell for winning Celebracadabra. I was happy because he did beat out Hal Sparks who has gotten weirder as the show continued. I think one of his problems was he was trying to be a gothy magician instead of concentrating on having a good and entertaining act. Tommy did flash once in a while with his tricks but his acting and energy made his act totally worthwhile. I hope he keeps up with magic.
Friday night I didn't have anything to do so I decided to go to Fry's for some new electronic crap. I bought 4GB of RAM for $80 and a Gb switch. I saw Pinguino and her boyfriend went up to Keith M's place to play some Rock Band. I decided to make the trip there after dropping off my toys at home. I brought some beer because I wanted party like Wayne's World. After a couple beers I got on base guitar and jammed some Rack Band. After that we went out on to Hollywood Blvd to pass some fliers for the Rock Band party to happen at the Derby Saturday.
Saturday I had my improv workshop. It was ok. We did a bunch of fundamental exercises to improve our form. One difficult thing was doing crazy eights in Japanese. I have to practice my Japanese numbers.
After class I headed home for a quick 30 minute disco nap and then Chris N. picked me up with one of his friends. We headed to The Derby in Hollywood for a Substandard party. They had a huge screen where we were playing Rock Band. I got really drunk and felt it the next day.
Last night I got a call from Deanna, I played some Guitar Hero and melted into my couch. I did watch the last two episodes of Weeds due to Deanna's suggestion. It's ok, I might watch an episode or two again. Fat Guy Stuck In Internet came back to TV last night too. It was a repeat of the first episode but next week promises to have a new episode. There was no teaser of it though. I wonder how close it will be to the first episode that they filmed over a year ago.
Tonight there is a preview or a panel for the TruTV show Tiger Team. I was curious about going but I am tired and I haven't heard from Pyro or Lizzie so I don't think they are going to be there. I think I will go home and maybe go out to TNT tomorrow night. Wednesday there is a hacker meetup at Chez Jay. I like the food and booze there, so I will go.
I finally saw the last two recent episodes of MTV's The Real World. In TV spirit, it raises the bar by kicking one person off (Greg) and then another leaves because of all the peer pressure and temptation (Joey). They are supposed to have a new roomate on the way. I did however see my improv pal Jack Allison on the Real World winning the cage match battle at iO.
Speaking of Improv, I was watching Good Day LA and they were interviewing Bill Engval. I know boring and annoying. I did happen to see Tim Meadows on the show and he was supporting the Upright Citizens Brigade wearing a UCB sweatshirt. I never saw anyone besides my friends wering them.
Tonight is supposed to be Must See TV but the only thing I can think of watching is Last Comic Standing even though I don't think there is going to be anything interesting until they all start living in a house or a boat or a small mining town in Nevada.
The summer must be a bust when it comes to TV because I see that CBS has brought back from the dead Password and Betty White along with it. It is on tonight at 8pm.
I don't know if it's worth my time looking for a movie to see. From what I have to pick locally, I don't think it might be likely. First on the list is You Don't Mess With the Zohan which is a big no way jose, I wouldn't watch it if it was on cable. Kung Fu Panda has gotten some good reviews but I do not want to see it by myself. Maybe I should ask that Ninja Pinguino to see if she would like to Kung Fu. The Strangers seems good but it would have to be a late night movie. I think if I go, I will see either Forgetting Sarah Marshall or The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, both got 4 stars.
Wednesday I had the pleasure of watching the car wreck called Celebrity Circus. The show has a bucketful of who's who of the "I need money fast" d-list. The 'Celebrities' included Wee Man, Blu Cantrell, Stacey Dash, Janet Evans, Rachel Hunter, Christopher Knight, and Antonio Sabato Jr.. The supporting staff was no under achievers either. At host we have N'Sync ex-band member Joey Fatone while judging panel exhibits Mitch Gaylord, Aurelia Cats and Louie Spence.
First I like to say, being a child of the 70's and 80's, I have been privy to the TV show "Circus Of The Stars". I remember Animals, Clowns, Human Cannonballs and lots of Acrobats. This Celebrity Circus is more like Cirque de Soleil. I know they are working hard but it's kinda gay. Speaking of gay or more like annoying, Louie Spence, I cannot think of any words that describe him than fucking annoying.
The other stupid thing about this show, it's not an exhibit, it's a fucking reality show. You get to call in a vote on your favorite circus performer. That really takes the legitimacy of the performers now. It makes them seem desperate like Dancing With The Stars or Amazing Race. To be honest, I did record this show, having high hopes that I would like to watch it or rewatch it. I ended up fast forwarding through it when I got to the 48 minute mark.
I have to say, I have friends at NBC and I commented how they work for the best network. They asked me why. I said "The Office", "Chuck" and "30 Rock". They didn't think that was all-that. I understand why now. Think of it, "Knight Rider", "American Gladiators" and "Americas Neet Talent". Wow, Sunnertime is definitely here.
What have I been doing? Working! It's been a real trip my friends. I didn't even get to do anything this weekend. I was stuck in the trenches fighting the battle for those capitalist green backs. I didn't even get to watch too much TV. Last night was the first night I got to sit down and watch the boob tube and by boob, I mean porn.
I did see on Sunday the trailer for the season premier for Fat Guy Stuck In Internet. They changed the name from Fat Guy Stuck In The Internet but eh, whats in a name. I took the trailer from my Tivo'ed Tim and Eric show and I put it up on UCBcomedy.com
So things have I done or watched this week. Celebra Cadabra is still funny even though they split up the finally. Hal Sparks has definitley gone off the deep end. It is funny seeing him pretend like he is a magician. I am not proud to say I am a magician but he is not yet qualified to call himself that. I do hope C. Thomas Howell does win, just for spite.
Hells Kitchen got rid of the annoying black chick Jen. It makes for better TV. She acted like the was the shit. She compained alot and then would cry sometimes. It was like watching Passions and not Hells Kitchen. If I was a betting man, who am I kidding? I bet that Christina will win and I will still want to bang her. Love that back woods type of girl.
Last night, The Moment of Truth, the girl got held up with the second question on the way to $20,000. It was "Have you be less attracted to your husband?", she answered no. The voice over said false and then she cried. She apologized to her husband and they were gone. Great TV. Just too many commercials for that show.
I didn't get to see the Real World yet and one of the girls in my Improv group ruined it for me. I don't think I tivo'ed it up I know you can watch the shows on MTV.com or any one of the 1,000 times they play it on MTV.
I did find my sister and brother both on Facebook which was funny. I did in the past have my foster brother on my myspace way back but when I switched to a different myspace profile I lost touch with him. Well now my family can recover my body when I don't check my myspace or facebook for a month.
I saw on LAist: Free Happy Hour at Molly Malone's Tonight Courtesy of "My Boys"
Not only is TBS' "My Boys" cool because it's got the incomparable Jim Gaffigan in it, but they're handing out poker chips that can be cashed in for drinks at Molly Malone's tonight from 6-7pm.
Every town in the US must have a Molly Malone's but tonight LA's will be transformed into the "My Boys" hangout Crowley's Tavern. Supposedly PJ and the boys will be there which sounds like fun [just heard that PJ and the boys will _not_ be there - but oh well, throw back a free drink to drown your sorrows]. All this is in celebration of the return of "My Boys" to TBS starting this Thursday at 9:30pm, one of the few bright spots on TV that we have to look forward to this Summer. Don't forget to tell them that LAist sent ya.
I am not going to go because it will probably be mega-crowded and I want to drink with friends. Chris said he was thinking about hitting the Arsenal but I am thinking more Kings Head because it is a stuble from home.
When life hands you lemons, make a bed out of them
I am so tired.
I have been just going out too much I think. Here is the recap.
Tuesday night I decided to go to T.N.T. And catch some improv. I got to see some people from my current improv group as well as some other people. It was really crowded but I had fun. I got to talk to Casey Wilson. I asked her if she was going back to Saturday Night Live but she didn't know yet.
Last night I went to a hacker meetup at Rick's Tavern. It started with me and Chris N. at the bar and the other people showed up. There was a lot of booze and then I remember shots. I don't even the last time I did a shot.
When I left the bar, I got a phone call from the bar saying I left my bag. I asked how they got my number and they told me it was from the business cards in my bag. I was glad I didn't lose my bag and I ended up giving a tip for the safe return of the bag.
Today the hangover wins.
I did check out a video of my pal Jawnee Conroy. I helped him out with a movie called Jawnee Congo: In Too Deep back when I was living in New York. I did some boom work for him and provided as much help and info as I could. I was surprised when I got to the end of episode 3 and I saw I was listed in the credits.
Tonight I think I am going to be uncreative and nap as soon as I get to my couch. Tomorrow is Match Game and Saturday is Vegas.
Hi, Michael Busch here. I'm producing a web series through a company called 60Frames.com and I need a bunch of extras. Some will be featured, some will just be background. A few may get a line. Shoot dates are Saturdays June 7th and 14th. No pay, but we'll feed you. At least once. Please email ABNCastingCentral@gmail.com with head shot and contact info if you're interested. Also specify which day you're available for, or both. Thanks!
Its Tuesday and I don't feel I have the energy that I should. I don't think I am boring because I end up doing at least one activity a night. Last night I hung out on the Santa Monica Pier for a while. It was chilly but at least the water wasn't kicking up so bad and getting all over me. The air smelled good and I got to play some fun Pinball at the arcade. They were also filming a movie on the beach. It was a campfire scene, I didn't recognize any of the actors either. They had a fire going which was weird since you can't light fires on the Santa Monica Beach.
Tonight I was debating whether or not to go to T.N.T.. Several of my improv pals are performing and it is cheap beer and good entertainment. I figure I am going to get me some Koo Koo Roo and run over at 8pm or so.
Tomorrow night there is a hacker meetup in Santa Monica at Rick's Tavern. I haven't been there before so it should be interesting. This weekend Abbynrml and Icetre are having a party in San Diego. Unfortunately they are having the party on a Friday and I have improv on Saturday. I did see that there is Match Game going on at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater on Friday and Saturday. Jimmy can't go with me on Friday but we thought Saturday. That's bust. I just emailed my exgirlfriend Rebecca and she is going to be in Vegas this weekend. I figured I drive in Saturday night after improv and maybe get to visit with her.
This little girl is so cute but so unsatisfied with Universal. They told her and her dad that they open on the phone but when they got to the park, it was closed.
Tatum O'Neil, who played such adorable parts in Paper Moon and Bad News Bears was busted in New York City for buying cocaine and crack. How lovely.
Adorable Brooklyn has not only been destroyed by high price condos but now will have the brats from MTV's Real World Brooklyn living in them. It was reported yesterday that MTV will be putting the disposable TV talent in the Penthouse at BellTell, a renovated phone company building. It is a 5 bedroom, 2 story with jacuzzi worth 6.5 million dollars. I hope my Brooklyn friends keep an eye out for these kids followed by cameras and have fun with them. It is right by the Navy Yard in old Red Hook.
Did universal try to extend the Backdraft Attraction?
Today I was getting twitter alerts from friends that they were heading to Universal because the backlot was on fire. I do know that some were injured and that is not funny. I don't know how the fire started because I didn't read the story about it but I would check the where abouts of Russell Crowe, he might have made an appearance in attempt to get a deal for the sequel.
Sundays are great for slacking and its what I perfected today. I ended up sleeping on the couch because I was running my own DVD marathon. I have been enjoying the Roku Netflix player a lot. I watched a bunch of Sliders and a trolley of documentaries. The player works really nice, it is cool not having to get up from the couch when I am in total slack mode.
I was thinking about one of the people I do improv with and I thought about querying about a chance for a date. I ended up searching on Facebook to get some insight in any pre-existing relationship. I don't know if that is ethical but I did find out through the social-networking site that the answer was yes, I had no chance. The good thing is that I did not risk any embarrassment.
Tomorrow I have to get in touch with American Airlines to see what happened to my miles when I canceled my reservation for my New York trip. I feel a need to get the trip straightened away as soon as I can because I am very excited to see everyone I haven't seen for eight months.
There was a little scuttlebutt at Pinguinos gala event. Apparently there is supposed to be a shindig at Abbynrml's and Icetre's pad. I didn't get an invite so I plan to query but I don't know it will mesh with my improv schedule. I would like to see those kids, its been while and I don't know when I would see them next.
Coming to TV soon, the stupidest gameshows. VH1 has I Love Money, then there are two others that seem just as weird. One is produced by ABC under the name Wipeout and the other is gameshow reality series called I Survived A Japanese Game Show also produced by ABC. With crap like this, why am I not on TV yet. Time to start uploading to YouTube again.
