I acclaim "It was highly entertaining"

Last night was very fun. I ended up going to T.N.T. (Tuesday Night Thunder) at the Sierra Stage in Hollywood. It is an improv show led by Harrison Brown (pictured left) and Jonathan Smith (wasn't there). Tuesdays are usually not my night to go out but I figured it's been a long time since I have seen some improv. I had no idea on who was in the groups I was about to see but I knew it would be better that watching The Office reruns on TBS's Superstation. Just about 8:15 PM, Harrison came out and warmed up the three of us and announced the first group "Live Humans"

Live Humans came out and did a bunch of short little monologues to get them started. They did some entertaining sets that including themes of Judaism and Marriage. Some scenes went high up on the silliness scale but did get a reaction from the crowd with a birth of the Chicken Crosses the Road joke and the birth of the knock knock joke. The group appeared to be having fun while they were performing and that is what really counts when it comes to improv. I don't know if it was their first time performing here together but they had a good show.

Next up were The Spaders. The Spaders could be best described as Two men. Two guitars. Songs. Scenes. Serenades. I got that from their website. They were very enjoyable. Their improv was solid and had good game. Their music was even better. Not seeming to be following any arrangement but jamming with their guitars and making up lyrics on the fly. All this and also having the ability to make it funny without it feeling forced. If you see The Spaders playing somewhere I would definitely recommend seeing them. They are great. It was awesome with the teaching scenes.

During the 9:00 PM hour we were joined by David/Erin/Josh/Harrison?. I know Josh who performs with this group and Harrison did as well. The others I don't know. They started with a sound and movement opening which was great and a good change from the monolouge opening. It kind of reminded me of Fwand's openings back in New York. There were great scenes between the players and everyone worked comfortably together. Funny scenes included ice skating queens with street tuffs and then another scene at a bachlorlette party. Very funny stuff.

Next was Berserker Academy. They said they were half of the Beserker Academy. They came out for a suggestion and did monologes to fetch ideas. If there was anything to say as critism, they just didn't seem to be having fun out on the stage. They did incorporate ideas into their scenes from their monologues such as, brick laying, radio setup and others.

Next to the stage was Furry Animals. I saw that Sonny was performing in this group. While outside he introduced me to another one of his teammates Dillion. I do have to say they were the largest team of the night, bearly fitting everyone in the picture. The did have some very talented people on their team. I was worried for some of the people hugging the back wall but after they got going, everyone had a good shot and it ended up being a pretty good set. We even got a little joke going with sweep edits just before two men kiss. Well we got to see two men kiss, making it a funny joke.

Last scheduled group to go up was Handymen. Handymen was made up of Johnny Meeks and Billy Merit. Billy had mentioned that he was planning on doing an improv show where it was two guys trying to fix something on stage. I didn't know this was the show or that he planned on doing it last night. It was a treat. I never saw Johnny Meeks do improv before but his timing with Billy's choices was a great match. I was busting a gut with laughter. This is a show that will no doubt see a spot at UCB sometime soon.

The evening ended with a Jam. There were three groups all about 12 people in size. Some car wrecks but nothing that Harrison and his partner couldn't take care of. I was too tired to perform. I almost went home early but I got to see Monica outside and it made me want to stay. It was fun to see Monica and Josh perform in the Jam.

It was a long drive home and I hit the sack pretty hard.

I am wondering when the heck Fat Guy Stuck In The Internet is coming back. Cartoon network flashed this image back in January saying that it was coming in May. May is just two days away and TV schedules are programed two weeks in advanced. Curtis? John? Any comments?

Tuesday, not my favorite

I haven't got my sleep schedule on the right track and my apartment has been a mess. I was disappointed over the lack of TV and ended up watching Deal Or No Deal for two hours, how pathetic? I looked around to my regular photo pals for headshots. Noone seems available till next month. A shame. I might just go to J.C. Penny and get a Sesame Street backdrop and do the photo there.

I forgot to mention that I caught VH1's newest television show, Celebra Cadabra. Its not bad but feels like there is no point. The one thing that me me giggle was to see an old magic teacher of mine, Jeff McBride. I haven seen him in at least eight to nine years and as I, he gained weight. He was wearing sitting sillier clothes than I though.

I watched the first episode of the Real World this morning. It wasn't great but there are a lot of classy people. One who is an unattractive stripper with no smarts whatever and then there is a violent male who looks like a date rapist. I heard through the improv grapevine that this season takes them to iO and they study under Charna Halpern. Good luck Charna.

Tonight I am thinking about going to T.N.T. To see some improv. Worst case, tonight I was to replace the Windows on my eeePC. The drivers aren't seeing my network card for some reason.

Borrowing a quote from Deanna Gertsen, "Ludicrous"

Saturday night was crazy. I wound up going to a party in Corona. It was Dave Johnson's birthday and Johnny X hosted the party. I didn't know about the party until I finally saw it posted on myspace. Deaddoll mentioned that she was going to a party for someone named Dave but I didn't think it was someone I knew.

I finally got Johnny's address at 10:00 PM and I headed down to Corona. It took me an hour including the trip for liquor. I got there and was greeted by Deaddoll, Ciritas, Bradley, Dave and Johnny. Some honorable mentions too by Sunshine and Alison. I had me a little make out session, I saw some nakedness and I drank a bunch. There was puke, not mine and I ended up waking up in my back seat of my car in the morning.

The drive home in the morning sucked. It was hot and I was tired. Before I reached downtown, I check the temperature. It was 102. I got home and ordered Pizza Hut and passed out. I slept most of the day and through the night.

Today I found my camera in the car and got a laugh from the pictures.

I got me some new sneaks

I forgot that on Thursday that I had much more going on in my life than just watching Must See TV. I had a party to go to and then afterwards I was to head to UCB to catch Billy Merrit's Art of The Prank.

The party was preceded by a presentation for a project my coworkers and I have been working on. The presentation was started by the emcee Adam Corolla. He was funny and got the ball rolling. After hearing from heads of company and pitches, Carson Daly introduced a NY indie band The Bravery. The band played two songs and then it was open bar. I saw Danny Bonoduce walking around with his girlfriend and we got to talking. We posed for a picture and then I left. I had drank three drinks in an hour and I had to get up to UCB.

I didn't like driving after three drinks but sitting down in the theater for an hour or so would be good for me. I got to the theater at 8:00pm on the dot and valet'ed the car. I got in just as the show was starting. The show was ok, a lot of people liked it but I guess it was that maybe I previously saw most of the clips they showed.

I left the show, still thinking I didn't want to get pulled over. I drove down Highland and sure enough I was being followed by a cop. This lasted for about 10 minutes and then he turned after a cab that was in front of me that didn't use his signal when he made a right turn. Lucky me.

When I got home there was new episodes of The Office, 30 Rock and LOST. I watched LOST first since I didn't want to hear spoilers the next day.

LOST made some huge leaps. It kept me glued. It started with Ben in the middle of the desert with a winter parka on. Must be a time portal on the island. Then in the present time, the attack started on the island. Ben sacrifices his daughter, but didn't think she would be killed. Claire almost died in the attack. Ben called out the smoke monster and then we find out that the crash victims were not going to be rescued. Then the end we see that Ben and Charles Widmore know each other and are in a certain type or war. Weird episode, but awesome.

Friday was just a regular day. I thought of going to Fry's but didn't feel like fighting traffic. I tried calling Jimmy to see if he wanted to go to Richard Cheese on Saturday. He didn't return my calls. I called Deaddoll and unfortunately when she called me bacl she said she couldn't go afterall. I don't know if I will end up going.

I went to the Santa Monica mall, or what's left of it. They are tearing it down for an outdoor mall in Fall of 2009. Macys is still open though and I thought I would check for sneakers. I tried ordering sneakers on the web but that didn't work. First was through Dick's Sporting Goods but they were backordered. They still took my order, I canceled it right away. Why would I pay for quick shipping if they didn't have the product. Then I tried ordering from Journeys. I pushed submit, it said that there was a problem with my credit card. I checked it and submitted it again, same problem. I check my credit card account and I saw the authorizations. I called Journeys toll free number and they said they don't receive the order for 24-48 hours, what is this? The Stone Age? Its internet for Christ's sake.

I went to Macys to find me what I have trying to get. Chuck Taylors, Black. Of course Macys had them in my size and for a couple dollars cheaper. When I left the store and walked the promenade. I was upset when I saw there was a Journeys on the Promenade. How can they be on the Promenade and not have a working commerce website? Regardless, I got some new Chucks.

Today I have improv in the early afternoon and then I don't know what to do. If I can get a hold of Jimmy, maybe I will end up at Richard Cheese. I could very well just end up at Fry's buying some computer crap.

Finally, congrats to Emma Watson newest pictures for taking away five minutes of my life.

Ouch, no rosey palm for a while.

This wrist still hurts. Not as much as yesterday but it is hard to turn doorknobs and type. It does feel better than it did, but I could deal without the pain.

Sunday night I went out to dinner with Sqweak and Mags. We did the usual by eating at Houston's. The meal was good and it was good to see Mags in a healthy state.

I am happy today because I saw that there is an audition for Harold Teams in Los Angeles. I finally get a chance to do a Harold audition. I know that Vicki Ferentinos has her audition in New York on Friday. I know she said we were going to have good luck this year, maybe we both will make it to a team.

I spent some time working on my eeePC the last couple of days. I installed Windows to a SD card I purchased. It works pretty well for the slow transfer speeds you normally get from an SD card. I just went to Burger King for lunch and I watched my Slingplayer with my evdo modem and it worked fine. Now there is no complaint about my eeePC, especially since it runs with Windows and Linux.

Tomorrow LOST come back on air and I can say I don't fell as addicted as I was before. Maybe because the show jumped the shark already. Maybe its the lack of the monster or the numbers. Who knows? I am much more excited about The Office or 30 Rock.

I can't believe how long it has been

I haven't blogged in a while. I have tried a couple times but I have been distracted.

Wednesday night I got back from NAB in Vegas. It wasn't a wild and crazy trip this time. I ended walking a lot during the day to see all the exhibitors at the convention. This exhausted me a bit and I would just go to bed early. I did do some gambling Monday night when I got in but that was it. I played craps and didn't do so bad. I got my drink on but that was the only night. I didn't get in touch with Jamiegrrrl or Bink but I don't think I would have been able to hang out with them either.

Thursday and Friday were just filled with work and getting back into the grind. My friend Jimmy got back together with his girlfriend which is pretty stupid, I thought. His girlfriend went through his emai and AIM conversations when we was at my house one day. SHe found a bunch of things on there about him visiting strip clubs. She kicked him out, we got some of his stuff out and then got drunk. Jimmy doesn't want to pay a bunch of money his own apartment so I guess he decided to move back in with his girlfriend. I don't know how he can live with a girl who doesn't trust him. Not to mention, she doesn't like me too much because of my interesting lifestyle. He came over on Thursday to pick up his cell phone charger and computer stuff but he said he had to go because of his girlfriend. It must be hard to find something to wear to work when she is wearing the pants.

Last night I didn't plan on anything to do. I called Jimmy up but he didn't seem like he didn't want to do anything. I picked up some food and then popped in "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof'", starring Tommy Lee Jones and Jessica Lange, into the DVD player. I ended up falling asleep during the movie. I awoke about 3:00 AM and I decided to hook my bedroom TV into my computer. I realized that there is so much content on the internet that I thought that watching it on TV was the next step. I got to watch Hulu (http://hulu.com) on the TV and it was better than sitting at my desk. I wonder if Windows Media Center or Playstation will ever add channels like Hulu.

Today I had my improv workshop. We have been studying Tennessee Williams hence the inspiration to watch "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof". It is not the easiest form of improv right now but we are just getting into it. One scene I thought started well was with me and Haley. We were in an old gymnasium and she was a student and I was an old janitor. She made me want to jump over a pummel horse and I thought the funnier approach would be to attempt but fail. I faked a fall but when I did, I think I sprained my wrist when I fell. It hurt a little when I got home but right now it feels a little more sore.

Tomorrow night I have plans to grab dinner with Mags and Sqweak. It's been a while since I have seen them. I thought of Sqweak when I was at NAB because I thought he would have been interested in it but then I remember he works for the video game industry instead of the broadcast industry. I didn't end up running into Chris N. out there either which was weird. Maybe all my friends are avoiding me.

I have been thinking a lot about NYC lately. Not only do I miss the comedy. I also miss Alaina and Max. It's been six months since I have seen them. I have been hating all the tourists that come to the beach here and tie up traffic. Shopping isn't fun on the Promenade either due to the tourism. I was not aware of a new law in effect here in CA that went into effect on January 1, 2008. Seen driving west on Santa Monica Blvd. in Beverly Hills. Effective Jan 2008. No smoking allowed inside a vehicle when a Minor is with you, that's stupid. If I do move back to New York, I don't know if I will be able to move back to Chelsea. I do not look forward to apartment hunting and walk-ups.

Same old Saturday night

I just finished watching Bridge To Terabithia. Oh my god, I did not expect what I just saw. The film starts all Disney, loser artist grade school kid meets cooky imaginative girl next door. They befriend each other and become closer with each day. They both only have each other. The boy isn't having the best home life so he and the imaginative girl create this imaginary world in the woods. They see this rope across a river and pretend it is a magical way into Terabithia. Like I said, this is very Disney. About an hour into the film, the boy, has a crush on his teacher. He is lured away to a museum by this school teacher, very weird. When he gets back, his parents are freaking out. Apparently, they thought he was dead, they were worried. His friend, the girl, went to cross the river by herself. The rope broke and she drowned, he is told. I was surprised and yelling "What the fuck?" The movie was very sad from this point on. It tries a couple feel good moments for the end but it ends with her not being mentioned anymore and his younger sister being introduced into the Terabithia concept. I will stick with Chronicles Of Narnia.

So what have I been doing? A bunch of stuff. Thursday night I drove to Las Vegas. Not a social trip, I was heading out there for work. I stayed at the Silverton because it was going to be convenient to be close to the airport and my work was going to be close to the south end of the strip. Where was I working? On the top of Mount Potosi. A 8500' peak that is home to a transmitter for radio.

The ride was interesting. We started out by driving to Jean/Goodsprings. We then turned down Gravel Haul Road. The road changes as you get further up the mountain, it turns from dirt road to huge rocks and granite chunks. It definitely needs a four wheeler to navigate the ride up.

The transmitter tower is accompanied by several 25 Kilowatt transmitters. Otherwise there is nothing else but a great view of Pahrump on one side and Las Vegas on the other. It was cold at the peak and there was snow up at the high altitudes. When we were done I drove home and I was happy to have my ass in a vehicle on flat smooth road. I was incredibly tired and when I got home I crashed out. I was supposed to call Jimmy but I didn't.

Today I had improv again. We are working on Tennessee Williams stuff. It is ok, I am a little unsure of it as of yet. I did do a little exercise wit Monica but I didn't execute it properly. I felt bad, I like Monica. I wonder if she would consider going out sometime.

I have a bunch of Tennessee Williams inspired DVDs to watch. I just got Streetcar Name Desire, The Glass Managerie and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. I needed something lighthearted tonight and I got stuck into a sad movie like Terabithia.

I guess I am going to wrap up the evening with Saturday Night Live.

Tomorrow night or Monday I am heading back to Las Vegas for NAB.

Massively busy but it makes the work week go by...

I know I haven't blogged lately but I have been thinking of all of you. I am rushing around like a chicken with its dick cut off. Taxes are due next week, I will be out of town next week, I will be out of town tonight.

This week hasn't been good for some. A hacker from the defcon scene passed away. My friend Jimmy got kicked out of his home by his lady. I took Jimmy out and we got drinks but I fear he ran back to his gal. She went on his computer and read his mail and messages. That lack of trust, shows the relationship is doomed.

I got my EVDO modem yesterday and it works ok. I had some trouble on it before I updated it but it works on Windows and most importantly, it works on Linux. I had some trouble at first but I will post how I got it to work later.

I have a doctors appointment to go to today. Its my dermatologist again. I wonder if he will say anything about me going to Vegas tonight. He likes to criticize my drinking. I am supposed to head into Vegas after the appointment and then tomorrow early I will be on the top of Mount Potosi in Las Vegas. I hope to get good pictures.

Jack In The Box you are my savior but where is the sweet and sour?

I woke up today and headed to the theater early. I went to meet Billy Merrit for lunch at the pizza place next to UCB. When I got there I was met by Billy, Josh, Marlena, and Clay along with others. I got me a onion bagel with egg, provolone and bacon. It was awesome. After the food, we headed into the theater and started warming up. We were missing a couple of people but it made two teams of six, which was plenty.

The performance went fine. My team went first. We did an one-act improvised play based on the title "What the hell am I doing in LA" (I think that was the title). There were several funny moments. I came out on the stage when Monica was talking to Alfredo about having a bad day. She said she wish she could meet someone who could understand bad days. I arrived on stage but sat there and cried. She tried to get the reason I was having a bad day but we kept on getting talked over, so it became like a game. It was fun, never-the-less.

I went to Birds after the show. Monica, BJ, Brendon, Alfredo and John were there. John asked me if I was going to see Assscat. I thought about it but I was kind of tired and wanted to get home.

When I got home, I crashed out when I hit my couch. I don't know why I was so tired. When I got up I decided to get some food but I knew everything would be closed near by. I decided to make the trip to Jack In The Box. I enjoy the egg rolls that I get from there but today is the second day I went through and was told that there was no sweet and sour. I had to get honey mustard. It isn't bad but it's not like hot mustard or the correct taste of sweet and sour. It's just a little complaint. How long could they go without that nectar?

I was going to see the movie 21 this weekend but after reading the reviews, I decided against it. Most of the reviewers said that the card counting was simple and the screen writing followed a template that was predictable. They went on to say that if you enjoyed the book Bringing Down The House, you would wonder 'what happened?'.

I did however see the film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I can say I enjoyed it a bunch. It definitely kept me interested. It did seem the fight scenes were a little long and predictable with the healing potion at the end but I do think the child actors did a great job. I still have Bridge to Terabithia waiting to be watched but I don't think I have the energy to watch it tonight.

I found out that it seems I won't be going into Vegas on Tuesday. It has to be pushed back. I have to see if I can move things around to get into the town later in the week. I need to visit my dermatologist again so that comes first.

You know what is super gay? Beat It cover by Fall Out Boy and John Mayer

I heard a horrible sound coming from the the living room and I needed to grab my smokes anyway so I walked into the other room. It was a cover of the Michael Jackson song "Beat It" and it was being sung by Fall Out Boy and John Mayer. How happy I only had to contend with Capizios, Parachute Pants and 'Mork and Mindy' when I was growing up.

I woke up pretty tired and feeling stressed. I hate waking up and thinking that its a work day when its not. I did have to get up around noontime because I had to get ready for improv. I got there in time even though I had to stop on the way. I hate being late. The practice time we had together was good. I don't know for sure how tomorrow is going to go but the more support we have in the audience I am sure it will help.

I bought a new DVD Writer and some DVDs at Fry's yesterday. I originally went there to get a Sierra U595 evdo modem for my eeePC but when I got to the Manhattan beach store at 6:30 PM the Spint salesman said that his manager went home and he couldn't do any activations. Great service huh? I guess they didn't need my sale. Today I ended up ordering a Novatel U727 from 1800mobiles.com instead. It was cheaper than the one at Fry's and probably will be more convenient to order online instead of fighting traffic to either one of the Fry's that are close to my home.

I haven't commented on the movies that I have watched lately. I just started getting some ready to send back to Netflix and one that I am not sure how I feel about it is on my mind. I saw Oceans 13. I am not sure I enjoyed this film. I don't have a problem with the pair of George Clooney and Brad Bitt, I think they are good on screen. I think the plot was a little loose and was too busy again. Andy Garcia made a return again and it looked like its been a couple years since the first couple of films. Some of the stuff was plain silly, the item Brad Pitt used to seduce Ellen Barkin. There was also the not-so-good acting from Super Dave Osborne. I do have to say, Ellen Barkin was pretty hot. It's been a while since Switch and she's still got it.

I think I might watch The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe tonight. Maybe even fit in the Bridge To Terabitha also. I have joked about the movies with Vicki Ferentinos a bunch, I think I should know what I am making reference to.

I lost another MySpace friend. Where do they go. I wish Myspace would tell you who it was instead of me playing that game "Who Left?". Then again, it might start drama that way too.

See me perform, Tomorrow (Sunday):

Standing in the line outside the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater again

I am outside the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater waiting for the Soundtrack Show right now. The show is with Billy Merrit, Brian Huskey and others that I can't remember off hand. It is based on the Mother show in New York. I bet it will be a fun time.

Sunday at 4:30 PM I will be performing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater again. This time me and my friends will be performing a one act play form of improv and should be quite entertaining. Be sure to catch it.

Last night was pretty cool. I went out to dinner with my friend and ex-coworker Philip. We used to work at Google together about three years ago, maybe more. The last time we got to catch up was six months ago, so we had plenty to talk about.

We ate at Houston's and it was pretty damn tasty as usual. After Houston's we headed to the Google building in Santa Monica and I met his boss Mitch. Mitch commented that my name came up in lunch, interesting. I also got to see two other employees from the past. It was funny to hear that there was a shrine setup for me in the other Google building when I left the company.

I looked up Richard Cheese tickets this morning and didn't buy them. I saw that Ticketmaster was selling them over $12 over the cover price. That stinks, I am going to look at other options.

Tomorrow I have my little workshop and then I will probably kick it with Jimmy.

The doctor thinks I drink too much. What does he know?

On Tuesday, I ended up seeing one of my doctors. One of the things he asked me when I mentioned some of my Vegas trips was how much do I drink. He looked at me with his judgemental eyes and was awaiting an answer. I looked up and said what I thought would be an ok answer, "seven". He told me that was bad and too much to drink. I said that was over a two week period. Heck, what does he know? He is my dermatologist.

Hells Kitchen premiered Tuesday night but I didn't get to see it yet. I might play it right after I get off this computer. I haven't been watching any 'real' TV this week. I have been just catching up on my Conan O'Brian and other late night oddities. Next week The Office is back and that will give me something to watch during the week. That is until LOST is back. Funny how I don't even miss LOST right now. I figured I would be having the shakes or something.

Today is Rachael Mason's birthday, Happy Birthday Rachael. She is one of my pals from the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York. She used to always have a nice cold Pabst Blue Ribbon for me. I did some camera work for he a couple times and I think she is great. Have a great day Rachael.

Tonight I am going to have dinner with one of my old coworker Philip. He and I used to work at Google together. The last time we saw each other was when I first landed in Los Angeles last year to start work with the company I am working for right now. Google is located about six blocks from my house so it is easy to catch dinner with him.

Tomorrow is Friday and I think I will go to the theater to catch Soundtrack. I have improv practice on Saturday and I don't want to have a all nighter. We perform on Sunday so Saturday practice is important.
