I boarded Virgin America flight to LAX about 4:10pm and I have to tell you, its an experience. The first thing you notice is the purple and fuchia (sp?) colored cabin, both first and coach. The seats are leather and seem to have more legroom and pitch. Each seat back has an intelligent gaming/tv center. There are games, mp3s, TV and some movie for free.it also contains an snack/drink menu programs and premium movies at $8. I ordered Hot Fuzz. There are a bunch other features that are inoperable such as web browsing, text messaging and email. Things that might work but that are silly like chat seat to seat and game invite.
The downsides are pretty big like the things you pay for. A 23 minute show of the Office costs $1.99, thats pretty sucky. The service is quite stinky, it took two hours for drink service and they combined it with the snacks, it was so slow. Not to mention, we sat over an hour on the tarmac.
Some interesting information. Red is the entertainment system on Virgin America. It runs linux, more specifically RedHat. It runs a customized version of xwindows. Crashes a lot, I mean tons. I saw somone next to me calling over the flight attendant a couple of times. Mine crashed three times. I also saw errors in boot. It only runs 256Mb.
